This App has been helpful in so many ways - most of which were covered in the review above! Hearing the good - and the bad - from neighbors helps me, and am glad that my tips and my experiences over many years have been helpful to others. The most helpful to me are reports of crime, tips, and lost pets that I could possibly lookout for. But the lost pets are also the WORST - but probably most important - feature because there are so MANY, and most have no tags and/or microchips. It is really upsetting. We can remind people about getting I.D.’s and that a local law requires that pets be licensed/registered with the City. Our reminders may be annoying but if this App helps find/save even one animal, it is worth having. I have actually had a few technical problems with this App. Sometimes my incoming posts/emails stop appearing. My settings had not changed on my end but maybe something happens with the Network when the App software is updated. I have so far been able to solve my problems using the HELP feature and/or a prompt response from one of the “Reps”. I do wish there were maps that show the street “boundaries” of each neighborhood. It would help when choosing which neighborhoods to add to my mailing list or give me an idea where the crimes are happening without anyone having to give any street name if they do not want to.
I enjoy this app for the most part and find the good outweighs the bad for me. I like that our neighborhood beat cop can post information and alerts; it has an option to list items for sale or go to the marketplace if you’re shopping; keeps me updated on road closures/construction; neighbors can post/reply to each other - we’ve discussed alternatives to our local cable company; neighbors reporting suspicious activity and one even uploaded a surveillance video of someone stealing a package off their porch)...and the like. Plus you can choose how large you want your neighborhood to be - the whole city or specific neighborhoods. What I don’t like is really only the lost/found pets posts. When i first joined, I saw a post and thought how useful this is, what a beneficial service - and it totally is! But I had no idea how many animals go missing or are found in my area. Easily 4 posts per day on different animals - so I get 4 emails that day - because I get a new email for each new post (not the replies to them, thank goodness). Now I could alleviate this by reducing my neighborhood area, or by opting out of email alerts - either of which I want to do because I like to keep up with what’s going on in my area - I guess I’m a cyber-Mrs. Cravitts. Anyway, I think most people, even student renters, would like this app.
